Parent Resources
P.T.S.A. (Parent Teacher Student Association)The Hoover PTSA is committed to excellence in education for all children. We are part of a team of more than one million parents, teachers, students, and others in California working better schools and a better future for our children. The Hoover PTSA provides an excellent opportunity for parents to remain involved in their students' school activities through the high school years, and we encourage you to volunteer as you are able. We offer monthly educational programs, operate the football concessionstands, sponsor the Tour of Homes, provide an opportunity for students to enter the National PTA Reflections Art Program, publish the Tornado Trails informational newletter which is mailed semi-monthly to each family, provide senior scholarships, provide support where needed, and much more. Hoover PTSA Association meetings are usually the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in Rm. 401 Purple Circle The Purple Circle parent group's objective is to encourage and support all activities of the Hoover High School associated student body. Along with the Hoover Alumni Association, our goal is to fundraise for the entire school. Purple Circle sponsors and organizes the annual Hoover Street Scene carnival, providing Hoover students, staff, and families an opportunity to work together to present a fun-filled day of games, prizes, entertainment and wonderful food. Each year, student organizatons earn over $9,000. In addition to fundraising, Purple Circle provides the monetary support for the PTSA informational newsletter, Tornado Trails, awards senior scholarships to community conscious Hoover students, and fulfills teacher Wish List items. We invite you to become a member of Purple Cricle and help support Hoover. Please check the Tornado Trails newsletter for meeting dates and times. Armenian Parent Association The mission of the Armenian Parent Group is committed to Hoover's Armenian students and parents in supporting higher standards in education. The group meets once a month in room 401 (dates to be determined). Meeting topics are selected based on parents' and students' needs. Korean Parent Association The Korean Parent Association, formed about 13 years ago, supports Korean students new to Glendale whose English speaking skills are limited or nonexistent, and provides support to families of those children. We award scholarships each year to Korean students who are going on to attend college. Meetings are usually help the last Tuesday of each month during the school year, at 8:00 p.m. in Room 401. Each month there are new meeting topics and speakers. Latinos Unidos Parents' Association Latinos Unidos welcomes everyone to participate in our educational and informative meetings held every fourth Monday of the month, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Room 401 has been our meeting room for over three years since this group was first formed at the end of 2001. Program topics range from graduation requirements at Hoover High School to immigration and health issues. Topics are generated as a result of requests by those participating at the meetings. If there is a concern about safety on campus, then we will address it. If college entrance expenses are of interest, then that will be presented. We encourage you to share your concerns and ideas at our meetings. Informed parents and an informed community raise more successful children and help to create a better neighborhood here in Glendale. Our mission is to support our children, our community, and our schools. We are partners with the Hoover PTSA and the administation and teaching staff of Glendale schools, and we aim to bring people together. Our meetings are held in English and Spanish as needed. Again, Latinos Unidos welcomes everyone, regardless of language or ethnicity. See you soon in Room 401 at Hoover every fourth Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. |
