Summer 2017 Garfield Adult School 
 The dates for summer classes are:  June 19, 2017 through August 10, 2017 Mondays through Thursdays, noon to 8pm.  There are no Saturday classes during the summer. Forms will be given to students in May when they arrive from Garfield. 
 
 
Registration Information 
All juniors received their registration packets on Tuesday February 14, 2017 in their U.S. History Class. If you were absent come to the counseling office to pick up your packet. The registration forms are due by March 10, 2017. The online registration portal will be open from now until March 3, 2017. Students must submit their registration forms and complete online registration. Summer School applications are attached to the registration packet so any student needing to attend summer school received an application.
 
AP Night 
For any student who has never taken an Advanced Placement Class (AP) and wants to take one next year. The student and a parent/guardian must attend AP night to receive an AP contract.  The dates are Tues Feb. 28th or Tues March 7 at 6pm in the Hoover Auditorium. 
 
Summer School 2017
Summer school will run from June 5, 2017 to July 7, 2017 ( 5 weeks) Monday through Friday from 7:45am-1pm. Students received their summer school applications with their registration. If you have any questions please call and speak to a counselor.   
 
Enrichment Summer School

Winter/Spring Garfield Adult School
Winter/Spring session will begin January 9th to June 14, 2017. Orientations will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting January 12th until March 17th from 4:15pm to 6pm in Room 211 of the Mariposa Building at the Garfield Campus (1122 E. Garfield Avenue, Glendale, CA 91205). Forms are now available with Mrs. Gonzales in the counseling office. The drop deadline is Saturday April 29, 2017. 
 
Dual Enrollment GCC Classes Spring 
There will be three Glendale Community College classes offered at Hoover High School through the Dual Enrollment program. Speech 101 will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30pm-5:25pm, Administration  of Justice 101 will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30pm-5:25pm and  Administration of Justice 201 (Homeland Security) will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm-5:25pm. The class is open to 10th.11th and 12th graders who have a GPA of 2.0 and above. This semester Administration of Justice has no GPA requirement.  Classes start the week of February 21st and end by May 27th. There will be an information meeting on January 18th at 3pm in Room 12101 for all students who are interested. See your counselor for more information. 
   
 
Career Technical Education Classes (formerly ROP)
The schedule of classes for Spring is out, classes begin the week of January 14th. Come see me if you want to take a class. CTE after school classes count for career prep credit and they are FREE! Here is the schedule of classes CTE Spring Class Schedule
  
Prepare for the SAT
The Assistance League of Glendale is providing SAT seminars for the low price of $60. Classes are Mon/Weds or Tues/Thurs, 8 meetings total, two hours each from 7pm-9pm at the Assistance League at 314 Harvard St. Glendale, CA 91205. Classes start February 13th &14th and end March 7th & 9th, come see your counselor for a registration form. 
 
 
PSAT - Scores are available online on your College Board account. The paper scores will be available when we come back from winter break and a score back workshop is being planned. 
 
PSAT Score Back Presentation 
Thursday February 2, 2017 in Room 12101 from 3pm-3:45pm
Student will receive back their individual test booklets and score reports. A representative from the Princeton Review will be going over how to interpret results and what steps can be taken next to prepare for the real SAT. Parents and students are welcome to attend.
