Welcome Seniors! It’s hard to believe, but here you are, at the end of your high school career! I feel that the time has passed so quickly; and I’m thinking that this year will fly by as well with all the things you need to do as Seniors. There is a lot for you to do and experience this year. Enjoy BGD, the prom, your friends and all the other high school experiences this year; but also remember to complete your graduation requirements, your applications for college, financial aid and scholarships. I will be with you every step of the way, but so much of this is up to you. Make the time for it---it will pay off in the end.
Please visit this website often and check your emails for very important information that I will be sending you. Come see me or email me with your questions. I will also be in your classes as often as I can with information for you.
As your Counselor, I am very proud of your accomplishments so far, and I am very happy and excited to be with you for Senior Year! Continue the good work that you do; especially for your school and community. Stay focused on your studies. Make sure you keep up with all the deadlines that you will be given this year. Your attention to details now will make a very big difference in your next steps toward college and career.

Winter/Spring Garfield Adult School
Winter/Spring session will begin January 9th to June 14, 2017. Orientations will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting January 12th until March 17th from 4:15pm to 6pm in Room 211 of the Mariposa Building at the Garfield Campus (1122 E. Garfield Avenue, Glendale, CA 91205). Forms are now available with Mrs. Samore in the counseling office. The drop deadline is Saturday April 29, 2017.
Dual Enrollment GCC Classes Spring
There will be three Glendale Community College classes offered at Hoover High School through the Dual Enrollment program. Speech 101 will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30pm-5:25pm, Administration of Justice 101 will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30pm-5:25pm and Administration of Justice 201 (Homeland Security) will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm-5:25pm. The class is open to 10th.11th and 12th graders who have a GPA of 2.0 and above. This semester Administration of Justice has no GPA requirement. Classes start the week of February 21st and end by May 27th. There will be an information meeting on January 18th at 3pm in Room 12101 for all students who are interested. Career Technical Education Classes (formerly ROP)
The schedule of classes for Spring is out, classes begin the week of January 14th. Come see me if you want to take a class. CTE after school classes count for career prep credit and they are FREE! Here is the schedule of classes CTE Spring Class Schedule
FAFSA/DREAM ACT Application Workshop
Saturday December 3, 2016 from 10am-2pm in Room 12101. This presentation is lead by college financial aid advisors and computers will be available so that all students/families can complete their FAFSA or Dream Act application. If you have any questions see Mrs. Samore.
Financial Aid Night will be Tuesday October 25th at 6:30pm in Room 12101. Come learn all about how financial aid works to fund your college.
College Panel Night
Students and parents are invited to attend Hoover's College Panel Night on Thursday, September 22, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Room 12101. Representatives from University of California, California State University, Glendale Community College and a private university will be here to speak to you about their programs. This is a great opportunity to speak with a college admissions adviser in person.

Come sign up in the counseling office. The workshop will be Monday August 30th at 2 pm (during 6th period) in room 12101.
